FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 14, 2021
MIAMI – April 14, 2021 – United States Senate (Florida) candidate Allen Ellison will hold “Fridays for Florida” this Friday, April 16, 2021.
Each Friday, Allen Ellison hosts a virtual discussion on social media platforms to safely engage with voters about various topics important to Floridians and the nation.
This Friday, April 16, US Senate candidate, Ellison, will discuss Florida’s House Bill-1 (HB-1), also referred to as the anti-riot bill. Allen Ellison believes this bill is the direct result of last summer’s protests surrounding recent law enforcement killings of unarmed Black citizens.
This bill unfairly and unconstitutionally punishes citizens for enacting their First Amendment rights, obscures the parameters for obtaining a protest permit, and increases penalties and fines during a protest.
The provisions in the bill are a response by Florida’s Republican leadership to penalize and silence marginalized voices. “Hearing and acknowledging those with a difference of opinion is foundational to our state and our nation,” says Allen Ellison who is running for US Senate.
The meeting will begin at 6:30pm EST on Facebook Live, Instagram Live at 7pm EST, with a follow-up Twitter chat at 7:15pm with Allen answering questions directly.
